Fixed Gas Detector - Methane (CH4)

The Fixed Gas Detector for Methane was designed as a modular detector for the detection of common hydrocarbons in the 0–100% LEL - Lower Explosive Limit range.

It consists of a 318 stainless steel main case, an anti-static weatherproof cover over the optics and in the gas measurement chamber and an electronics assembly.

This detector has the following characteristics: it is robust, compact and presents a low energy consumption.

A fixed and remote display can optionally be integrated, communicate via Hart or MODBUS. There is also an Ex portable calibrator for In Situ calibrations.

It is a certified flameproof (Excl) detector suitable for use in ATEX Zones 1 and 2 hazardous areas.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Quick response – only 4 seconds response time;
  • Designed and approved in accordance with IEC61508 SIL 2 and can also be used in offshore environments;
  • Versatile- operates in a wide range of temperatures (- 40ºC to + 75ºC) with temperature compensation;
  • Measurement reliability – detects gases even with 90 % obstruction of the optical system by salt or other contaminants. The contamination level can easily be checked by an optional Display and a failure signal is emitted when there is a 90 % obstruction of the optical sensors;
  • Remote non-invasive calibration – allows a simple check of the operating status (being possible to re-initiate and calibrate the detector) being possible to install it at a distance of up to 30 metres away from the detector (allowing the possibility of applying the test gases without the need of directly accessing the detector);
  • Robust optical components – the optical components are treated with a proprietary coating, avoiding the potential clouding of the optics in condensing atmospheres;
  • Easy installation – with reduced dimensions in relation to conventional detectors, requires less space, effort and installation time, may be attached to walls, 2” pipes (50 mm) or connected to an auxiliary junction box;
  • Versatile connectivity – from a 4-20mA output signal (optionally offering the possibility of RS-485 Modbus and HART communication) it is virtually compatible with any control system;
  • Low power consumption – using only 1 Watt does not require windows or heated mirrors allowing very low consumption and optimization of the battery backup systems.
